![]() In order to increase the number of students participating in high-quality WBL placements, the department has allocated $120,000 to support LEAs in the development of a self-sustaining school-based enterprise (SBE) for WBL students to operate. However, in some areas, students face barriers to these types of experiences, such as a lack of transportation, restrictions on students in the workplace, and/or master scheduling conflicts. High-quality WBL partnerships with local businesses are thriving across the state, resulting in more students gaining valuable on-the-job training in high-growth occupations. High School School-Based Enterprise (SBE) Start-up Grant In February 2019, Governor Bill Lee announced the Future Workforce Initiative aimed at increasing access to STEM and CTE in the classroom. The 2021-22 Middle School STEM and CTE Career Exploration Start-Up & Expansion Grants are intended to drive innovation in implementing middle school science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) and career and technical education (CTE) programs that will ultimately lead to increased opportunities for middle school students.
